@John

I lift raw and box squatted for like 10 months without any serious close stance squatting. (just some wide stance with or without bands)
When I returned squatting in my oly shoes I had an increase by 20kg (~44lbs) after getting used to it again.

So there´s a carryover but primarely squatting may be more bang for the buck (for the raw guy). But I like box squatting so much that I recently reintroduced it to my training, but I´ll still squat free now and then.

My training partner and I just ordered a few different strengths of the short bands and can't wait to get them in the gym!

The stuff that's in this article is great, but we were wondering if there were any good max or dynamic effort squat movements that could be done with a regular bar? The last video on the page shows a great one, but we don't have access to such a bar; I'm not sure that trying to stretch the bands from the floor to the height at the top of our squat will work. We're excited for banded deadlifts, banded bench work, and banded rack pulls, but just want to get as much use out of them as we can! Thank you!

Do you recommend box squatting for raw lifters, and does a raw box squat carry over so well to a standard squat like the geared version?

Thanks

I use a lighter band (red) and cut off the 8 foot foam pipe insulation into one foot length to the band for the neck part to start patients using good morning. Poor mans rehab, but saves the patient's money.

quite informative as I have a few lower back issues and have found quite a bit of information that has helped reduce the number of injuries and kept me in the gym more .This exercise has an interesting twist with the isolation of the lower back and the reduction in upper back involvement.I found it very helpful.As an another variation on this I have found through experimentation and discussion with a few physical therapists that are also lifters along with my primary care physician that doing this very same move but using isometric tension at different levels (moving up or down with your upper body and holding this position has quite a theraputic action.Now with this exercise I will have another tool too help me stay in the gym more.Great job I use this site as my bible.

Ted, as someone who just underwent microdisectomy and is going through recovery, your actions let me know there is no reason for me to not get right back in the fight. Thank you for posting it.
